All apps which provide entertainment value and or distractions such as social media, gaming, and news/magazine apps are unavailable while shifted.

What is a dumb phone?

A dumb phone is a basic mobile phone that lacks advanced features like internet browsing and entertainment apps.

Why not just buy a dumb phone?

A dumb phone lacks the indispensible yet non-distracting features of a smartphone,
such as music, photos, GPS, and more.

What is the difference between SHIFT and a dumbphone?

A dumb phone does not provide the innumerable tools that are necessary in the modern age, such as navigation, capturing photo and video, banking, note taking, listening to music and audiobooks, prayer apps, reminders, etc. SHIFT maintains the useful tools of a smartphone, and merely disables the entertaining functions.

Does this work on Android?

Yes, SHIFT works on both Android and iOS devices.

Does SHIFT work on Apple Watches?

Yes - apps that are restricted by SHIFT will disappear from the Apple Watch while the iPhone is shifted, and reappear when the iPhone has unshifted.

How is SHIFT applied to my phone?

SHIFT is applied to your phone by downloading SHIFT on your computer and following the setup instructions.

Does this work on Mac and PC?

Yes, SHIFT can be used via both Mac and PC.

I work on my computer, couldn't I easily unshift all the time?

SHIFT offers focus sessions, which totally block unshifting for 30, 60 and 90min periods.

These services do not work on android devices, and can be easily disabled whenever the user wants.
They rely on NFC tokens which can be hacked or stolen.

Why not use Screen Time, or apps like Opal?

These services do not work on android devices, they can be easily disabled or deleted, and do not protect the user from going back on their goals. They are also often subscription based services.

Can I pick which apps are unrestricted?

No, all apps have been pre-filtered for usefulness and entertainment.

What if there's an app I want to be whitelisted?

If you believe there is an app that should remain available while shifted but currently is not,

No, SHIFT does not affect your photos or data.

You can redeem your license code on a new computer and continue using SHIFT.

Can I set a schedule to automatically shift my phone?

Why does Find My need to be turned off to install SHIFT on my iPhone?

This is an Apple native requirement that is not unique to SHIFT. To make a backup with Finder, the user must also turn off Find My.

Why does my iPhone say "Supervised and Managed by RETVRN Inc.?"

Supervision is an Apple native feature that gives the user a stronger barrier to unshifting, allowing them to stick to their goals. This does not give RETVRN Inc. access to your personal data, nor does it mean RETVRN Inc. owns your phone, despite what Apple makes us say.
