A recent survey by SellCell reveals that 90.5% of employees use their personal phones during work hours for non-work-related activities. The study indicates that desk workers in the U.S. collectively spend up to 1.2 million hours daily on personal phone use during work, equating to $24 million in lost productivity each day. This amounts to an estimated $6 billion annually in wasted wages due to personal phone usage at work.

The survey also highlights the extent of personal phone use among employees: 49.8% spend up to an hour daily, 28.9% up to two hours, 11.3% up to three hours, and 9.8% up to four hours or more on personal phone activities during work. Common non-work-related activities include calling or messaging partners (65%), contacting friends and family (61%), and checking social media (48.6%). Notably, hybrid workers are the most frequent offenders, with 93% admitting to using their personal phones during work hours.
